About the work

Gathered in Passing is structured around the distance between three figures gathered on one side and a solitary figure standing opposite. The red-orange interval between them feels charged rather than empty, becoming a psychological space of uncertainty, separation and possible connection.

Built through layers of acrylic and plaster, the figures appear accumulated from fragments of colour and material. Their forms remain partial and provisional, as though caught between arrival and departure. It is unclear whether the solitary figure is approaching the group, leaving it or simply observing from a distance. That uncertainty is central to the work. Rather than presenting a fixed narrative, the painting considers belonging, exclusion and the often unspoken distance between the individual and the group
