Original Abstract Irish Paintings
holding what experience leaves behind

01. PRACTICE

Painting memory, identity, and what remains

My paintings consider what remains after people, bodies and places change. They are shaped by experiences that continue into the present, and by the way absence can still be felt as a form of presence. Rather than trying to resolve these experiences, painting gives them somewhere to exist.

02. PAINTING

Layers, movement and discovery

Working with acrylic, plaster and mixed media, I begin by allowing diluted colour to move across the canvas. I turn, build, scrape back and reconsider the surface until figures or other forms begin to appear. Earlier marks and positions may remain visible, allowing the painting to retain a record of what has been altered, covered and revealed

03. THEMES

Presence, distance and the imperfect figure

Figures often appear isolated, partially concealed or separated by expanses of space. They are not characters within fixed stories. They carry traces of altered bodies, remembered people and feelings that resist explanation. The paintings offer fragments rather than answers, leaving room for viewers to recognise something from their own experience.

04. PROJECTS

Painting in a wider context

Individual paintings often develop into wider bodies of work shaped by a particular place, experience or recurring question. Exhibitions and occasional projects allow these connections to unfold across several works and to be encountered within a shared space.

How do I choose the right painting for my space?

Consider the mood you want to create, the size of the wall and the colours and natural light already present in the room. Measure the available space and think about whether you want a quiet, contemplative painting or a stronger statement.

Practical considerations matter, but your response to the artwork is equally important. If a painting continues to hold your attention and you can imagine living with it, that emotional connection is often the best indication that it is right for you.

Do you sell original paintings or limited‑edition prints?

I offer both original paintings and signed, limited-edition fine-art prints through my online shop.

Each original painting is one of a kind and comes with a signed certificate of authenticity. Selected works are also available as limited-edition giclée prints on Hahnemühle Photo Rag paper. These are produced in restricted editions, signed and numbered beneath the image, and clearly identified as prints on their individual product pages.
