Midnight Lamp II
is built around the meeting of two contrasting surfaces: an expansive turquoise-blue field above and a densely woven hessian section below. Traces of red, orange and violet remain visible through both areas, connecting the open upper space with the darker, heavily worked ground.
Along the boundary, loose fibres and small upright forms suggest grasses, distant figures or fragments caught at the horizon without resolving into a fixed image. The painting remains poised between landscape and abstraction, allowing its sense of place to stay uncertain.
