Crimson Canopy came from the same emotional space as Under a Blood Red Sky and Blue River Under a Red Sky. I was thinking about histories that do not settle easily, and the way certain images return before you fully understand them. Here, the red moves beyond atmosphere. It presses downward, heavy and suspended, like a sky carrying more than weather.e.

Ireland and Palestine were both in my mind while making this work, though I did not want to tie it to a single place. What mattered more was the feeling of inherited memory, of land carrying history, and of peo ple continuing beneath its weight. This is a painting that stays unresolved, and I wanted it to remain that way.
