Dawn Passages
Original Painting | Mixed Media on Canvas
This one holds a different kind of weight. Dawn Passages was painted during a time when memory and presence were tangled together—when the loss of my wife echoed through other moments, other losses, and opened something wider than one event. Not a single grief, but a series of small partings, remembered all at once.
I think of this piece as a kind of threshold. The marks came through slowly, with warmth and care, even when the emotion behind them was heavy. I wasn’t looking for resolution, just a way to honour what remains after the quietest goodbyes. The colours carry that sense of holding on and soft release. Each layer is a conversation I still feel.
