Waiting

This piece came from that strange place where time stretches and nothing moves. The figure in the foreground sits in full light, but casts no shadow. That’s something I noticed only after painting it, and it stayed with me. It makes the figure feel suspended, like they’ve been sitting there longer than they should have. Not resting. Not asleep. Just… waiting.

There’s another figure further off. Smaller, quieter. The space between them feels heavy. There might even be something beyond that, just at the edge of the horizon. Or maybe not. It’s hard to say. Sometimes distance holds ghosts.

The sky burns red above them. It feels both overwhelming and strangely calm. In the upper left, there’s a faint shape that looks like an upside-down heart. I didn’t plan it, but once I saw it, I couldn’t ignore it. Maybe it’s something once held too tightly. Or something still waiting to be found.
